AVID Hifi is a leading name in the world of hi-fi audio. However, I must admit my lack of experience with their products, as I have never tested them. This may be due to my lack of a commercial relationship or personal contact with the previous national distributor. I should clarify, though, that I made a positive reference to the system set up by Pauca Sed Bona at the Pestana Palace during Audioshow 2016.
AVID in Portugal and Spain
But that's about to change. AVID Hifi has recently announced a new distribution partnership with EXAUDIO, covering the markets in Portugal and Spain. This alliance aims to increase access to AVID's products, which are renowned for their quality and performance. Consequently, Portuguese and Spanish audiophiles will have the opportunity to experience the brand's high standard of excellence.
Founded in England by Conrad Mas, AVID Hifi has a history of more than two decades dedicated to the design and production of audio equipment.
From Acutus to Ingenium
AVID is best known for its turntables, including the Acutus and Ingenium series. However, the company has expanded its product range to include phono preamps, tonearms, cartridges, amplifiers, and speakers (see the PDF at the end).
All AVID products are manufactured in the UK and reflect a commitment to precision, detail, and durability—essential qualities for the most discerning audiophiles.
Strategic Partnership
EXAUDIO has partnered with AVID Hifi, a distributor known for its extensive experience in high-end audio and AV products. This collaboration will allow the British brand to more effectively meet the growing demand for high-fidelity products in the Iberian market. Additionally, it will ensure an efficient and specialised after-sales service.
The AVID Hifi Range
For audio enthusiasts in Portugal, this partnership provides the opportunity to discover the complete range of AVID HiFi products (see the PDF at the end). The brand is internationally acclaimed for its turntables, particularly the Acutus series. In contrast, the Ingenium range offers a more accessible entry point into high-end analogue audio, maintaining excellent performance and quality.
In addition to turntables, AVID Hifi also has a range of phono preamps, such as the Pulsare and Pellere. In 2016, the brand launched into the amplifier and speaker market, demonstrating its vision of offering a complete, integrated audio ecosystem for demanding audiophiles. Each product is designed to work in harmony with the other components.
The return of analogue
As analogue sound quality becomes increasingly important to audiophiles, the collaboration between AVID Hifi and EXAUDIO represents a significant advancement for our audio community.
Soon, AVID Hifi products will be available in specialised shops across the country, allowing the public to participate in personalised listening sessions.
However, don’t expect to find CD players, streamers, or DACs. While Conrad Mas appreciates the convenience of digital options, he remains fully committed to analogue.
For audio enthusiasts in Portugal, this partnership with EXAUDIO will bring the renowned quality of the British brand ever closer to home. In my case, almost at my doorstep.
Yesterday, I visited Exaudio with Pedro Henriques and interviewed Conrad Mas for Hificlube. Here’s a video of our conversation, and I promise to soon test a product from the extensive AVID range. Finally!
